Digital Exhibition: Carla Gannis Explores the Selfie Identity in Networked Culture

January 5, 2016

In the continuation of her self promotional series, The Selfie Drawings, Carla Gannis turns her 52-week self identity visual experiment into a GIF-style video experience. The exhibition entitled Subject Self-Defined, was designed to "heighten the narrative impact and moves from a graphic novellike aesthetic into a more cinematic one," according to Gannis.

The project stays true to social media practices by presenting short video clips giving the viewer the 140-character and six second attentive experience. Clips will include footage of Gannis acting out scenes inspired by The Selfie Drawings series.

The show will be on view from January 23rd through March 12th at TRANSFER Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.
